The most gorgeous beach in New Zealand. Yep, I said it. Absolutely stunning, rugged and remote. 100% worth the trek to get out here. Gravel road to the car park for the last 5km or so and about a 20 minute walk through farm land surrounded by stunning scenery. Epic!

We were lucky enough to find this gem. The location is stunning, the private walkway to the beach is perfect, the availability of kayaks and paddleboards was a bonus, and the hospitality was perfect. Valery (chef) was fantastic and we were lucky enough to meet the owners at the end of our stay. Alan and Luba was such a delight. Alan did an amazing job with this home - you’ll love it! We will definitely be back!

Glenduan Reserve is located 18 km from Nelson and is a beautiful, restful place to relax. It's a great spot for dog walks and seal spotting. There is a walking area along the side of the beach, and the reserve features two playgrounds, a skateboard area, toilets, a children's play area with a flying fox, and plenty of parking. The beach at Glenduan is very rocky. You can also reach Cable Bay from here, either via the beach or the 8 km Cable Bay Walkway that goes over the hill. The area is a Marine Reserve, so no fishing, netting, taking, or killing of marine life is allowed, and the removal of any natural material from the reserve is prohibited.

This hut was the best I've ever stayed in. It had a big fire, around 20 bunks, and plenty of reading material about the history of the area and the building. I stayed in July, so it was chilly in the mornings. It takes about an hour for the fire to warm up the place. The stairs are narrow, so you need to be careful when going up and down them. There are three rooms in total, with two rooms upstairs and one downstairs. There is a large table with a few long benches. There is no lighting, so be sure to bring plenty of torches. Drinking water is available outside, and the toilets are located about 20 meters away through some bushes. There is also a small wood cutting area. There are lots of weka birds around, and they like to come into the hut and steal food, so remember to keep the doors closed.
