It's a lovely beach but it has strong undercurrents therefore you are unable to swim in the sea. What's the point of having a beach where you can not swim in the sea? However the seas in tenerife have sewage in them so it is probably best that you don't swim in them. It is not very accessible so it's no good for individuals with mobility issues.

Not an easy place to get to - the steep cliffs act as a barrier, making it difficult to get down to the ocean. Climbing without experience or local guidance is not recommended. Even if you can't get down to the beach, the view from the top of the cliffs is still stunning. It feels like being in another world, but getting to the beach is a challenge.

We took a snorkeling tour at playa de Abades. The reefs are very fun to snorkel and the beach is very quiet and nice. Cute shops and restaurants are right there by the beach and it felt a bit like Greece with the small white buildings. Locals told us to watch out for pickpocketers as it’s apparently an issue. However, we didn’t have any problems with our belongings getting stolen. Make sure to take the trek up to see the Ghost town. I wish we would have went on foot from the beach. We tried to drive to it but those roads are more for ATVs or bikes and not for regular cars. Definitely worth the trip though!
