The staff at the beach are friendly and speak pretty good English. There is a coral reef at the private beach and free snorkeling equipment available at the reception. The surrounding nature is wild, with encounters with a 3-meter Komodo dragon, a cobra, and a poisonous sea snake near the hotel. The hotel is exotic, with a jungle in the backyard.
The hotel is slightly worn down but everything works. There is no TV in the room, which is fine given the pristine location, but a refrigerator would be a nice upgrade. Wifi is only available at the restaurant and the 4G internet is slow, giving a nostalgic atmosphere.
The food at the restaurant is good if you stick to local dishes, but the drinks are not great. The nearby Tanya Resort has the best mojito, and their special cocktails are amazing. The journey to another hotel or beach involves a 10-minute jungle road or swimming.
The location is exotic, relaxing, and not touristy. However, the service is chaotic, with confusion when leaving the island and delays in boat pick-ups. It is difficult to trust what they say.
