The water is normally pretty calm, and you can watch boats go into the inlet waters, as well as the occasional dolphin. The birds are not shy if you leave food unattended. There is a bathroom area and showers to rinse off at each boardwalk entrance, but food is limited to one place in the middle. The atmosphere is peaceful and if you want to walk south on Sand Key towards the condos, it's great for shelling or taking a run.
