Live music, delicious food, and a fantastic atmosphere!!
I had dinner here while a live two-piece band was playing. Despite being packed, the staff managed everything smoothly. The Continental plate was incredible, and the Boom-boom shrimp had a nice kick! The bartender was friendly and kept the drinks flowing. Highly recommend!

This place offers plenty of space and numerous handicap accessible parking spots right at the front. Additionally, there's a large free parking lot available. However, I didn't see any tables with a view of the lake. They have a nice bar, though I didn't notice a cocktail or beer menu. On Friday nights, they offer several seafood options and a variety of appetizers. Our companion's seafood chowder looked very good. I had the grilled chicken dinner salad and appreciated how the chicken was sliced into thin pieces. I was also impressed that the salad included iceberg lettuce, spinach, romaine, and arugula. The servers are wonderful.

You get a great view of Buffalo in the distance, the horizon is beautiful, and it's just a really nice place that feels like it's in cottage country. Some cool ruins, though if you have kids please keep an eye on them - they could get hurt.
Parts of the beach are private, but there's a large public area as well.
There are public washrooms.
The sand is "meh". I saw a few people walking barefoot, but there were so many shells and rocks that I couldn't see how it was comfortable for them.

This place is truly a hidden gem that I wish I had discovered earlier. The beach is stunning, with soft sand and very few rocks, and there's ample parking available. It features a fantastic splash pad suitable for all ages, a beautiful and highly accessible playground, a bar/restaurant, and a snack shack. Both dining spots share a spacious outdoor seating area. Additionally, there are restrooms, picnic tables, and much more. Best of all, it's all FREE (except for the food and drinks). We brought a picnic to save on food costs, which I highly recommend. It's just an hour's drive away, easy to locate, and absolutely worth the trip! We will definitely be returning.

I think the name "Sole at Woodlawn Beach" for the state park at Woodlawn is misleading. I don't visit the bar that runs the food concession there, I just come for the beach and park. The beach has a large stretch of nice sand, dunes, a swimming area, and picnic spots. It's a great beach, only a 10-minute drive from downtown Buffalo, and it's never too crowded.
It's even better now that the beach bar is gone, so there's no more loud music. Another recent change is that people can now access the water outside of the swimming area for activities like boating, playing ball, splashing around, or parasurfing on windy days. This gives people more freedom, but they do so at their own risk, allowing lifeguards to focus on keeping swimmers safe in the designated area.

We were searching for a beach not too far from Toronto and decided to visit this one based on the numerous excellent reviews. To our surprise, the park was quite nice, featuring decent washroom facilities and a large, FREE parking area, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the beach itself was not very clean. While digging holes with my kids, we uncovered quite a bit of trash and garbage hidden in the sand. The most disappointing aspect was the sharp rocks in the water. Without water shoes, I hurt myself every time I entered the lake, making it one of the most painful experiences I've had. I would not return to this beach because I can't stand rocks in the water and always try to avoid such beaches. If you can overlook the rocks and garbage in the sand, this beach might be perfect for you.

This place is absolutely adorable. The beach features sandy shores, with the shoreline largely clear of large stones. You'll find small stones and pebbles along most of the water's edge and extending about 15 feet into the water. I enjoy swimming and playing fetch with Grace, and while the stones can be a slight inconvenience, you can find softer areas if you walk a bit further. There's safe parking available, including some shaded spots. Just be cautious not to trespass on private property, as you wouldn't want anyone wandering onto yours.

I think the name "Sole at Woodlawn Beach" for the state park at Woodlawn is misleading. I don't visit the bar that runs the food concession there, I just come for the beach and park. The beach has a large stretch of nice sand, dunes, a swimming area, and picnic spots. It's a great beach, only a 10-minute drive from downtown Buffalo, and it's never too crowded.
It's even better now that the beach bar is gone, so there's no more loud music. Another recent change is that people can now access the water outside of the swimming area for activities like boating, playing ball, splashing around, or parasurfing on windy days. This gives people more freedom, but they do so at their own risk, allowing lifeguards to focus on keeping swimmers safe in the designated area.

You get a great view of Buffalo in the distance, the horizon is beautiful, and it's just a really nice place that feels like it's in cottage country. Some cool ruins, though if you have kids please keep an eye on them - they could get hurt.
Parts of the beach are private, but there's a large public area as well.
There are public washrooms.
The sand is "meh". I saw a few people walking barefoot, but there were so many shells and rocks that I couldn't see how it was comfortable for them.

The Town of Wainfleet makes it inconvenient to use it. They close at 6 pm during the summer and 4 pm during the off-season. They ticket people if they park outside when the main parking lot is full because the neighbours surrounding the public beach complain. Not everyone is fortunate enough to own a cottage, so we use the public beach. Some neighbours are Americans, so they dictate when Canadians can use it. Some families can only make it after work, so they don't have much time.
Nice beach, poorly managed.
