As a local, this is the place to go that is more typical of the natural Florida beaches without all the tourist vibes. There is plenty of parking for $5, a short walk to the beach, and a plethora of intact beautiful shells along the shoreline. The water is normally pretty calm, and you can watch boats go into the inlet waters, as well as the occasional dolphin. The birds are not shy if you leave food unattended. There is a bathroom area and showers to rinse off at each boardwalk entrance, but food is limited to one place in the middle. The atmosphere is peaceful and if you want to walk south on Sand Key towards the condos, it's great for shelling or taking a run. If you're looking for a nice quiet beach experience, this is the place. Don't forget your Pub Sub!
