Great State Park! We enjoyed the marsh boardwalk, a couple of the dune hikes and then, of course, the beach. We also spent a night tent camping and enjoyed our experience with that. We were able to see an owl right at our campsite which was very cool! If you are able, get up early enough to watch the sunrise, it is beautiful!

It's also not too crowded, and there are public restrooms nearby, although we didn't need to use them. Overall, we had a lovely time and plan to come back.

This park was absolutely fabulous! It is so big with so much stuff for kids to play on. It's a giant wooden area to climb and walk all over, with slides coming down. And it is right next to a beautiful beach. Parking is free as well. There is a smaller kids area that is currently under construction. There are swings in both the larger and smaller play areas.

What a fantastic place for all our service members and their families! It even features a sandbar, the first one I've ever seen in fresh water. The area is very clean, and the base itself is simply beautiful. The architecture is from the 20th century, showcasing the pride taken in construction work back then. I would have loved to explore the inside of the buildings to see the old ornamental woodwork and possibly chandeliers still in place. However, since it's an active base with high security, I didn't want to risk getting into trouble. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my day at the base! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This park was absolutely fabulous! It is so big with so much stuff for kids to play on. It's a giant wooden area to climb and walk all over, with slides coming down. And it is right next to a beautiful beach. Parking is free as well. There is a smaller kids area that is currently under construction. There are swings in both the larger and smaller play areas.

There are restrooms and a rinse station available for when you're done with the sand. Plus, there are plenty of photo opportunities with the Lighthouse at the point. We had an amazing time swimming and playing in the waves here. The water was cool, but not as cold as it is up north by the Mackinac Bridge. The sandy bottom extends far into the water, so there are minimal rocks. We managed to go barefoot and ventured quite far out.

However, I can understand why it's a major upside for residents, as having a private beach would be an incredible selling point. The exclusivity certainly adds to the overall sense of privacy. Another noteworthy aspect of Lake Forest Beach is its cleanliness. The beach was immaculate, indicating a high level of care and maintenance. It's always refreshing to visit a beach that is well-kept and inviting. If you're fortunate enough to have access, it's definitely worth taking advantage of this hidden gem!
