Plage du Pigeonnier is located on the Biscay bay (part of North Atlantic Ocean) and it is in the 52th place out of 52 beaches in the Charente-Maritime region 60.3 km away from its center, the city of La Rochelle. It is one of the beaches of Royan settlement, just 1.4 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area.

It is a small several bays coastline with blue water and brown sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. "Although beach is pleasant, it can be challenging to access and park. It's best to arrive on foot or by bike. However, the surrounding environment is beautiful, and the beach is well-sheltered, making it an ideal spot for tanning out of season. Plus, the late afternoon shade is a nice respite from the sun."

"Although it was windy during our visit, the beach's location on a seaside path that stretches nearly 5 kilometers from the Royan ferry to the Royan casino beach made for a pleasant walk. The sand was dark in color, and the surrounding neighborhood had a chic vibe."
