I really enjoy this beach, typically when I visit it's not overly crowded, although I imagine it gets busier during peak times. The sand is pleasant and clean to walk on, and there aren't many rocks in the water nearby. They also have a small playground for kids.
The beach at the north end is a perfect spot for hammocking with three trees and a picnic table. The library nearby has clean bathrooms available. The beach itself is quite spacious, with hardly any rocks in the water. If you walk out a bit, you'll find a sandy bottom.
We've visited several beaches throughout Traverse City this week, and this one stands out as the absolute best. It's incredibly clean, free of any dog waste, has a pleasant atmosphere, and there's a charming town just 200 yards away. Additionally, the swimming area is incredibly spacious.
While this beach can become quite crowded, it's a wonderful spot to enjoy your freshly acquired tasty treats such as fudge, ice cream, or other delectable goodies from the charming local shops! Although swimming is popular among many visitors, it's not personally my preferred destination, especially with the marina located just nearby. However, the presence of a playground and volleyball court ensures that there are still plenty of activities to engage in, even if you choose not to take a dip. It's worth noting that there are no trees directly on the beach, so it can get quite hot under the sun. Fortunately, there are some trees in the back area, so remember to bring your sunscreen for protection.
The beach is located conveniently behind the downtown area, making it easily accessible. It is also in close proximity to various restaurants and shops. Additionally, there are two private unisex restrooms available for visitors to use for changing and freshening up in a private setting. Moreover, this beach is perfect for families as it offers a pleasant playground for children to enjoy.
