Calm, measured rest and the sound of waves are perhaps the most common associations that arise with the word "beach". This is not surprising, as relaxation is exactly what many beach travelers are looking for. If you associate your vacation primarily with such activity, choose one of the 151 beaches in the region.

To make your choice easier, we have prepared a list of the best beaches for relaxation in West Nusa Tenggara.

Attraction and Infrastructure

As for the main features of the beaches of West Nusa Tenggara, they are as follows:

  • The region's beaches are mainly narrow, moderate length and have a high level of cleanliness. The most common surface is sand of bright color.
  • Since many beaches are sandy, we recommend taking special shoes with you to avoid discomfort during your vacation.
  • Usually, entry into the water is gentle, which is very good for kids. There are 79 such beaches.
  • An important clarification, 79 beaches in the region have a long intertidal zone, which means that during low tide hours you may have to travel a considerable distance. This is also something to consider if you don't want to suddenly be in the water at high tide.
  • The average distance from the road to beach in West Nusa Tenggara is less than 500 meters. 105 beaches are relatively easy to access, 10 beaches are difficult to access, which in most cases means that you have to walk a quite long distance, and 34 beaches are only accessible from the water. The latter include both island beaches and beaches with no land routes due to the natural borders.

The vast majority of West Nusa Tenggara beaches have the necessary amenities, such as sun loungers, umbrellas, beach cafes, showers and toilets.

Selong Belanak Beach

SelongBelanak Beach is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after destinations for tourists visiting Lombok. The beach boasts a stunning bay that offers a serene and picturesque setting for visitors to bask in the beauty of nature. The waves here are ideal for surfers, with the soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water adding to the charm of the place. The hills surrounding the beach offer a panoramic view of the Indian Ocean, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

Aan Beach

This beach is stunning and spotless. I highly suggest visiting. We stopped at Pink Swing and didn't have to pay for chairs, just buy something to eat or drink. (We spent 50k for two people). The vendors can be a bit persistent, but if you tell them you already bought something yesterday, they usually leave you alone.

Gili Air Sedjiwa Beach

We ordered three dishes, all of which were disappointing. The chicken satay had dry chicken, and the randang sandwich was also below average. Both of these options were better than the so-called 'fish taco'. Firstly, it's not even a taco, but rather a wrap. The wrap consisted of extremely dry and overcooked fish, to the point where even a stray cat wouldn't eat it. It was accompanied by raw onion, raw carrot, some leaves, and...nothing else. The lack of seasoning made the ingredients incredibly dry, and they were all enclosed in a dry (not) tortilla. It was completely inedible. I've been living in southeast Asia for 2 years, and this dish is by far the worst I've had during that time. I highly recommend avoiding this place.

Serangan Beach

We ventured to a serene beach for a brief visit, but our stay was cut short when a man approached us and demanded payment for non-existent parking. Despite our attempts to reason with him and explain our intentions, he insisted on a standard fee of 10000rup. It's disappointing to encounter locals who are discourteous to visitors, especially when we were the sole individuals present.

Desert Point Beach

While I'm not much of a surfer myself, I found great pleasure in observing the skilled riders who frequented the beach. The ambiance of the nearby cafes was delightful, with a mix of local and international surfers enjoying the atmosphere. Despite witnessing a few damaged boards and scrapes on legs, the enthusiasm of the surfers remained undiminished. Although the journey to get there may be a bit rough, the destination is undoubtedly worth the trip.

Please note that lifeguards supervise 5 beaches in the region, but you should rely on more than just them, remember the elementary rules, as lifeguards are not on duty around the clock, even on equipped beaches!

Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.

The hottest month of the region is April - air temperature during this time warms up to 29.2°C and water up to 30°C. The coldest month is August - air temperature drops to 26.9°C and water to 27.7°C. Air and water temperature allows you to relax comfortably in the region all year round, which is enjoyed by tourists and locals.
