Calm, measured rest and the sound of waves are perhaps the most common associations that arise with the word "beach". This is not surprising, as relaxation is exactly what many beach travelers are looking for. If you associate your vacation primarily with such activity, choose one of the 224 beaches in the country.

To make your choice easier, we have prepared a list of the best beaches for relaxation in Puerto Rico.

Attraction and Infrastructure

As for the main features of the beaches of Puerto Rico, they are as follows:

  • The country's beaches are mainly wide, moderate length and have a high level of cleanliness. The most common surface is sand of bright color.
  • Usually, entry into the water is moderately gentle, such beaches are 216.
  • The average distance from the road to beach in Puerto Rico is less than 500 meters. 208 beaches are relatively easy to access, 6 beaches are difficult to access, which in most cases means that you have to walk a quite long distance, and 9 beaches are only accessible from the water. Playa Hilton Ponce

This beach is a fantastic destination for families, offering various amenities such as a top-notch gym and a delightful open-air design. The pool area is enjoyable, although it tends to be more focused on families, resulting in a lively atmosphere with many children. However, if you are seeking a luxurious resort experience, this may not be the ideal place for you. The breakfast provided is exceptional, but the dining choices are limited and only available for a specific period of time. It is advisable to plan on dining downtown if you decide to visit, which is another aspect that prevents this location from being considered a true resort by many.

Playa Guayanes

Playa Guayanes is a off the beaten track in southeastern Puerto Rico . The beach is attractive to my wife who loves beach glass. You can sit on the beach. Surf looks to be rough and not relaxing. But I'm up there in years. It is relatively clean. An attraction is a local beach bar with great prices and great pastellios. Always a great thing. Mi Espanol es una poquito so I can get by in a place that's beautifully local.

Playa Corsica

We had a rejuvenating stay at a beautiful farm right by the beach. The property is situated right on the beach, so we could wake up to the sound of crashing waves and the melody of birds every morning. One of our favorite things was enjoying our morning coffee while looking out at the beach and the cows on the farm. We wish we could have this experience every day! Since it's a local beach, we had the entire coastline to ourselves, which was a pleasant change from the crowded tourist beaches. The addition of outdoor showers, a pool, hammocks, friendly pets, and fresh fruit from the farm made it absolutely perfect! We also want to give a special shoutout to Kevin for making our late-night check-in easy and for mailing back my Kindle, which I accidentally left behind. It may just be a device, but it holds sentimental value to me, and I truly appreciate the extra effort. Thank you once again! 🙏🙏

Playa Blaydin II

You can't fully appreciate the beauty of this tree from pictures alone. It was truly awe-inspiring, and we were even lucky enough to have wild horses pay us a visit.

Sucia Beach

The road leading to the beach is filled with potholes, but it is still passable as long as you drive slowly. Unfortunately, the beach itself is not very enjoyable due to the excessive amount of seaweed. The landscape, however, would have been incredibly beautiful if it weren't for the seaweed. Although there are hiking opportunities nearby, our main purpose for coming was to relax on the beach. If you have the same intention, I would recommend going somewhere else for now.

Playa La Jungla

Upon arriving at this isolated beach in the south, we were greeted by litter left by previous beachgoers, including unpleasant items such as used tampon dispensers and dirty diapers, as well as fishing line, plastic bags, cups, and bottles that cover the surrounding mangroves and grasses. The area is also home to feral dogs that scavenge for discarded food, which can pose a threat to other pets. Although a handmade sign in Spanish reminds visitors to dispose of their trash, there are no garbage cans available at this protected reserve. Despite being a popular local beach, it seems that proper cleanup and maintenance is not a priority for those who frequent it. To preserve this valuable marine ecosystem, it may be necessary to implement a reservation system and charge a fee to cover the cost of cleanup efforts. #killtrashnotturtles

Please note that lifeguards supervise 12 beaches in the country, but you should rely on more than just them, remember the elementary rules, as lifeguards are not on duty around the clock, even on equipped beaches!
