Playa Migel

This beach is a hidden gem, often blissfully empty. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll, with the soft, yellow sand cushioning your every step. The waves are ideal for surfing, boogie boarding, or simply taking a refreshing dip. For a change of pace, the nearby river flows gently into the ocean, offering a tranquil oasis of freshwater. And don't forget the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that paint the sky in a kaleidoscope of colors. This beach is truly a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

The Luquillo strip never fails to captivate with its picturesque scenery. The wall murals add an inviting touch to the already stunning view. It was a delight to witness the transformation of the small apartments and hotels with their beautifully painted facades since my last visit a few years ago. The opening of this beach area holds a special place in my heart as it is where my great grandparents are buried in the nearby cemetery. However, the lack of parking space remains the biggest challenge for visitors. Despite this setback, I am determined to return to this paradise early in the morning to catch the perfect waves.

To access this beach, one can either traverse it by foot or make use of a truck. The entrance comprises a narrow dirt path that runs through a nature reserve, and is often riddled with deep potholes that sometimes fill with water. However, the beach is definitely worth a visit if you are able to make it there. If not, there are other options available that offer similar beach experiences.
