Napili Bay Beach

This beach is an excellent option for families seeking a relaxing day out. The sand is soft and the waves are gentle, making it an ideal spot for swimming or paddleboarding. We arrived early and were able to secure a parking spot on Napili Pl without any trouble. While there were people coming and going, it was not nearly as crowded as some of the other beaches in the area. Don't be deterred by the no beach access sign - this is a great spot to spend a few hours or an entire day.

The snorkeling experience at this beach was absolutely breathtaking! We were able to spot a diverse range of marine life, including vibrant Butterfly fish and colorful reef fish. As we ventured further away from Black Rock Beach, the snorkeling only got better. During our short walk of just 1/10th of a mile towards the beach entrance, we were lucky enough to witness the graceful movements of an octopus and even some friendly sea turtles. The sunsets at this beach are truly enchanting and provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing evening. For those who plan on using fins, it's best to sit down as the water starts to drop off in order to put them on comfortably. The Coral formations here are simply awe-inspiring and make for a stunning sight, especially when paired with the abundance of reef fish swimming about. Overall, we highly recommend this beach for anyone looking to have an unforgettable snorkeling experience.

We had an amazing time during our vacation while spending a couple of days at this beach. The snorkelling experience was exceptional with a plethora of fish and turtles to witness. The waves were gentle and soothing, at least during our stay, and the beach was not too crowded, which made it even more enjoyable. Although parking was limited, we were content with everything else. This beach has undoubtedly become our favourite spot on the island.

Black Rock Beach

While exploring the coast for snorkeling spots, we found ourselves repeatedly drawn back to the captivating beauty of Black Rock Beach. For the best snorkeling experience, head to the north end near the black rocks, where you'll find a bustling atmosphere and easy access to prime snorkeling locations. This area also provides a bit of shelter from the wind, making it an ideal spot to spend the day. You don't need to venture far from the shore to witness an array of vibrant fish swimming alongside you. For a chance to encounter larger and more diverse species, swim beyond the rocks where thrill-seekers can even try their hand at cliff jumping. Our visits to Black Rock Beach were never complete without spotting the graceful sea turtles that frequent the shallow waters. With its stunning scenery and abundant marine life, this beach is truly a must-visit destination for any ocean enthusiast.

Kaanapali Beach

This is hands down my favorite beach on Maui. I highly recommend avoiding the beach further north due to the abundance of rocks in the water. However, this beach boasts some incredible waves that are perfect for surfing, depending on the day. I even got caught in a massive wave that nearly dislocated my shoulder - it was quite the experience! While this beach is a popular spot for tourist sail boats to load and unload, it can be both annoying and entertaining to watch. There are plenty of showers available right off the beach, and a variety of restaurants just steps away. Parking can be found for free in some areas, or you can opt to park at the Whalers Village shopping center (although it can be pricey) and walk straight through the mall. If you make a purchase, you may even be able to get your parking validated. Additionally, there are accommodations available right on the beach, making it an ideal location for a vacation. Overall, I highly recommend this beach for anyone visiting Maui.

Fleming Beach

This beach is perfect for bodyboarding and playing in the waves. There are plenty of parking spots, restrooms, and even a lifeguard on duty. However, it might not be the best choice for young children because the waves can be quite big.
