Whether you relax near the main viewpoint or do the optional walk, this experience offers a memorable way to enjoy Pico do Arieiro at sunset. If summit weather or visibility is too poor, an alternative viewpoint in the Palheiro area or another suitable location may be used. Clear views cannot be guaranteed. Warm clothing is recommended, as mountain temperatures can drop quickly after sunset.

It is also possible to observe several birds, some of which are exclusive to Macaronesia, such as the canary of the land (Serinus canaria), the petty of the field (Anthus berthelottii madeirensis) and the andorinhão-da-serra (Apus unicolor). Near the Pico Ruivo shelter is the track PR 1.2, which leads to the Achada do Teixeira. Already at Achada do Teixeira you can see the basaltic rock formation known as “Man in Foot”, located in the descent after passing through the shelter of Achada do Teixeira.
