I’m going on record as stating this is my favourite beach. Amazing colour to the water, quiet and loads of beautiful colours in the pebbles. Worth the drive, just park at the side of the road and enjoy!
Raised pebble beach at Ballyhillin. Difficult to find, ask a local for detailed directions !The turn is on the right as you're heading uphill to Banba's Crown. Drive to the end and ignore the no parking signs.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. It’s easy to get to. There’s some space for parking towards the beginning of the road- don’t bother driving to the end, you can’t park there. It’s a short walk down the road, then cross the (rickety) stile and you’re there. It seems like it would be impossible to leave without at least a small handful of beautiful pebbles!
Beautiful beach, fabulous 'tumbled' stones. Park at the top of the track and walk 350m north. There is no parking close to the beach. This beach is geologically significant as since glaciers disappeared and the weight of ice on the land lessened, it has gradually 'risen' in stages, clearly visible if you look west towards the farmer's shed, hence The Raised Beach.
This is a hidden gem of a beach. The beach is a complete pebble beach with crystal clear water. If you love peace, quiet and the occasional local farmers cow on the beach this is the place for you.
