The best way to explore this unic place is to have a boat ride in the canyon, the biggest in all Europe. You'll drive your little private electric boat having a picnic with some local wines. You can jump to the water or just unwind admiring the nature (2 hours easy drive, very calm water). Then we'll stop on few lavender fields off the beaten path. After a visit to the technical installations to better understand how the wines are made, you'll then taste the excellent wines. During this trip, I want you to discover the authentic Provence off the beaten path. We'll start this day by a real journey to the past. After the death of Jesus, Mary Magdalene's moved to Provence and spent her last 33 years in the grotto in the Sainte Baume massif. The place is very inspiring. You'll walk there on your own, at your own pace, and you'll have enough time to pray or meditate. Then, I'll offer you a local sandwich & a glass of rosé from my village. We'll reach Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, a small coloured Provencal town : free time for shopping, ice creams, coffee and visit of Mary Magdalene basilica where her skull is preserved. We'll finish the day by a drive through the beautiful Sainte Victoire valley. If we have time, you can have a walk through the vines fields, visit a small, authentic village or taste local wines. We will also stop in a lavender distillery along the way where you have the opportunity to buy products directly from the producers; and we will leave you some free time in the village of Valensole. The best time for lovers of typical Provençal landscapes to visit is middle of June to end of July, when Valensole plateau is awash with beautiful blue lavender in bloom. It's a sight – and scent – to behold!
