Bue Marino was definitely one of my favorite places in Favignana. More than a beach, it's a spectacular rocky cove carved out of ancient tuff quarries, with enormous walls and openings in the stone that make the landscape truly incredible.
And now, after the release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, this place has even more charm: right here, between the quarries and the sea, some scenes from the film starring Matt Damon were shot. Once you arrive, you immediately understand why Nolan chose this spot: it almost seems like a ready-made natural set, with these stone walls reminiscent of the entrance to an ancient mythological place.
What really won me over was the water. It's a stunning color, somewhere between deep blue and azure, and it's so transparent that as soon as you enter, you can see the seabed and an incredible number of fish.
Access to the sea is unique: you enter directly from the rock, via a sort of slide or natural platform carved into the old quarry, and the water immediately becomes deep. It's not the typical place where you slowly enter and walk into the water: here you basically dive or slide into the sea and never touch the surface again. Precisely for this reason, I find it perfect for those who love swimming, snorkeling, and diving, but I would recommend it less to those who aren't good swimmers or are looking for shallow water.
And the best thing is that as soon as you enter the water, you're literally surrounded by fish. All you need to do is dive in and find yourself immediately immersed in this little underwater world.
A place I absolutely recommend, especially if you love wild places and aren't looking for the classic sandy beach with loungers and umbrellas. There are no comforts here: there are rocks, tuff quarries, very deep water, and fish everywhere. And that, in my opinion, is precisely its charm.
After seeing The Odyssey, returning here has a completely different effect: knowing that these very rocks became Ithaca on the big screen makes the landscape even more evocative.

To miejsce całkowicie zdobyło moje serce i jestem całkowicie oczarowany! 😍
