Playa Alicia boasts some of the most powerful beach waves in Puerto Plata that I have ever encountered. Unlike the crowded Sosua Beach, this serene location offers ample space to choose an area to place your beach chair during the week. Although I was charged 700 pesos for two chairs and an umbrella, which is more expensive than Sosua Beach, the overall experience is worth it. It is a peaceful beach with a few tourists from the Casa Marina Resort. While the waves are strong, you eventually get used to them once you swim past them. On weekends, more people and tourists come to enjoy the beach and play music, but it does not detract from the tranquility. I would definitely return to Playa Alicia for another memorable beach day.
This beach is nothing special, and the parking situation is a nightmare. If you're unlucky enough to arrive during peak season, you'll be circling the lot for hours. And even if you do manage to snag a spot, you'll be paying through the nose for the privilege. Once you're on the sand, you can rent a couple of chairs and an umbrella for an exorbitant fee. And while the food prices aren't outrageous, the service is painfully slow. By the time your meal arrives, you'll be so hungry you'll eat anything.
This beach was truly delightful. Its serene beauty was not marred by overwhelming crowds, and various vendors were available to offer exciting excursions, aquatic activities, and refreshments. The restaurant situated just behind the beach served up the most delicious food I have ever tasted in Sosua. However, it is worth noting that the water may be too deep for children, so caution is advised. Overall, this beach is a flawless destination for a relaxing day in the sun.
This so-called "hidden" beach is nothing special, just another overrated spot for tourists to flock to. Sure, the waterfront may be decent, but it comes with a hefty price tag. Don't waste your time or money on this mediocre destination.
