The beach is absolutely amazing. If it weren't for the presence of seaweed, it would easily be one of the top three beaches I've ever been to. It's not overly crowded, but it's not too quiet either. There are a couple of restaurants to choose from, and my personal favorite is the reasonably priced one located at the far east end of the beach. You can access the beach through various roads, but the best one is the route that takes you to Caffè Coson, and it's convenient to use a moped for transportation.
The beach itself is stunning, with a beautiful curved shape, a combination of gentle and strong waves (although be cautious, as some areas have very strong currents), palm trees, and a river that changes its form on a daily basis.
During my visit in December 2022, there was some seaweed present, as is common in the Dominican Republic, but it didn't appear to be as abundant as at Playa Bonita.
I highly recommend finding a spot near the river to set up camp, and if you're confident riding a two-wheeler, you can easily reach it that way!

A place where people flock to for some much-needed relaxation and escape from the daily grind. But let's not kid ourselves, shall we? It's really just a stretch of sand and water with a bunch of people crammed onto it.
Sure, the water may appear crystal clear and warm, but let's not forget about the countless tourists splashing around in it, leaving behind their sunscreen residue and other unmentionables. And let's not even get started on the sand, which seems to find its way into every crevice of your body no matter how hard you try to avoid it.
But hey, maybe I'm just being cynical. After all, who doesn't love the feeling of sand between their toes and the sound of waves crashing against the shore? And if you're lucky enough to find a quiet spot away from the crowds, the beach can actually be quite peaceful.

Love this beach! It is a more quiet beach (except on weekends, when parties tend to happen). In my opinion, to becomes prettier the further west you go, and ends in a quiet cove. It has a number of beach restaurants where you can grab a quick bite for lunch, and one of my favourite places for pizza is down near the west end (Chiringuito). It is a quieter area to rent on, and is usually our choice on Airbnb.

This beach in El Portillo is excellent - it's clean, calm, and easily accessible from the road. If you're not paying attention, you might miss it. You can even drive your car onto the sand and park there. The beach has a small, shallow river that flows into it, which provides a refreshing break from the sun. There aren't any vendors or accommodations nearby, but the calm waters are perfect for wading in and going for a swim. I highly recommend checking it out!

In my humble opinion, the beach in Las Terrenas is an absolute gem. The picturesque scenery is beyond compare and it's no wonder why it's considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. My experience there was nothing short of magical, as I found myself in awe of the natural beauty that surrounded me. Despite visiting at various times, I was fortunate enough to have the beach almost entirely to myself, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the tranquility of the moment. Without a doubt, this is a place that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a breathtakingly beautiful escape.

This beach is nothing special, and the parking situation is a nightmare. If you're unlucky enough to arrive during peak season, you'll be circling the lot for hours. And even if you do manage to snag a spot, you'll be paying through the nose for the privilege.
Once you're on the sand, you can rent a couple of chairs and an umbrella for an exorbitant fee. And while the food prices aren't outrageous, the service is painfully slow. By the time your meal arrives, you'll be so hungry you'll eat anything.

This beach is a real gem - spotlessly clean with a never-ending stretch of powdery sand that seems to go on forever. It's so quiet here that you could easily be forgiven for thinking you're the last person on earth, especially if you're willing to walk a little further down the beach. Parking is no problem either - we managed to park for free the first time, but the second time we got hit with a 100-peso charge from a guy who seemed to be running some sort of impromptu parking lot. Not exactly a big deal, but make sure you've got some cash on hand just in case. There are also some cute little restaurants and shops scattered around the beach, which is a nice touch. All in all, this is a fantastic spot to soak up the sun, sea, and scenery - just don't forget to bring your wallet!

Love this beach! It is a more quiet beach (except on weekends, when parties tend to happen). In my opinion, to becomes prettier the further west you go, and ends in a quiet cove. It has a number of beach restaurants where you can grab a quick bite for lunch, and one of my favourite places for pizza is down near the west end (Chiringuito). It is a quieter area to rent on, and is usually our choice on Airbnb.

This beach is a real gem - spotlessly clean with a never-ending stretch of powdery sand that seems to go on forever. It's so quiet here that you could easily be forgiven for thinking you're the last person on earth, especially if you're willing to walk a little further down the beach. Parking is no problem either - we managed to park for free the first time, but the second time we got hit with a 100-peso charge from a guy who seemed to be running some sort of impromptu parking lot. Not exactly a big deal, but make sure you've got some cash on hand just in case. There are also some cute little restaurants and shops scattered around the beach, which is a nice touch. All in all, this is a fantastic spot to soak up the sun, sea, and scenery - just don't forget to bring your wallet!

This beach is nothing special, and the parking situation is a nightmare. If you're unlucky enough to arrive during peak season, you'll be circling the lot for hours. And even if you do manage to snag a spot, you'll be paying through the nose for the privilege.
Once you're on the sand, you can rent a couple of chairs and an umbrella for an exorbitant fee. And while the food prices aren't outrageous, the service is painfully slow. By the time your meal arrives, you'll be so hungry you'll eat anything.

This beach in Punta Cana is definitely one of the best. There are plenty of local food options available, although they can be a bit pricey. We only wish we had more time to fully enjoy the water.

A place where people flock to for some much-needed relaxation and escape from the daily grind. But let's not kid ourselves, shall we? It's really just a stretch of sand and water with a bunch of people crammed onto it.
Sure, the water may appear crystal clear and warm, but let's not forget about the countless tourists splashing around in it, leaving behind their sunscreen residue and other unmentionables. And let's not even get started on the sand, which seems to find its way into every crevice of your body no matter how hard you try to avoid it.
But hey, maybe I'm just being cynical. After all, who doesn't love the feeling of sand between their toes and the sound of waves crashing against the shore? And if you're lucky enough to find a quiet spot away from the crowds, the beach can actually be quite peaceful.

The beach is absolutely amazing. If it weren't for the presence of seaweed, it would easily be one of the top three beaches I've ever been to. It's not overly crowded, but it's not too quiet either. There are a couple of restaurants to choose from, and my personal favorite is the reasonably priced one located at the far east end of the beach. You can access the beach through various roads, but the best one is the route that takes you to Caffè Coson, and it's convenient to use a moped for transportation.
The beach itself is stunning, with a beautiful curved shape, a combination of gentle and strong waves (although be cautious, as some areas have very strong currents), palm trees, and a river that changes its form on a daily basis.
During my visit in December 2022, there was some seaweed present, as is common in the Dominican Republic, but it didn't appear to be as abundant as at Playa Bonita.
I highly recommend finding a spot near the river to set up camp, and if you're confident riding a two-wheeler, you can easily reach it that way!

In my humble opinion, the beach in Las Terrenas is an absolute gem. The picturesque scenery is beyond compare and it's no wonder why it's considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. My experience there was nothing short of magical, as I found myself in awe of the natural beauty that surrounded me. Despite visiting at various times, I was fortunate enough to have the beach almost entirely to myself, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the tranquility of the moment. Without a doubt, this is a place that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a breathtakingly beautiful escape.
