I chose this rating because I appreciated the experience, but I don't think I would come back. I stayed in the overwater bungalows, which provided an amazing reef to explore. I also enjoyed witnessing the coral grafting and the resort's efforts to preserve the reef and educate the public about marine research. The hotel staff was very friendly, and I had no issues with the customer service during my stay. The hotel's location is fantastic, especially since it faces west, offering a breathtaking view of the sunset. I also really liked and was grateful for the transition room on my last day, which provided a comfortable space between check-out and departure to the ferry.
However, the overwater bungalows were not as luxurious as one would expect for the price of $1500USD per night. They were quite outdated and worn. Before my arrival, I emailed the Hilton Tahiti concierge twice to arrange excursions, but I did not receive a single response from them. Additionally, the food was extremely disappointing. I ate at all three restaurants, and every lunch and dinner was not something I would ever recommend to anyone. Apart from its location, I truly believe that this hotel does not meet the luxury standards recommended by American Express Platinum travel.
