Selong Belanak Beach

SelongBelanak Beach is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after destinations for tourists visiting Lombok. The beach boasts a stunning bay that offers a serene and picturesque setting for visitors to bask in the beauty of nature. The waves here are ideal for surfers, with the soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water adding to the charm of the place. The hills surrounding the beach offer a panoramic view of the Indian Ocean, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

The beach was a letdown. It was littered with garbage, particularly where the river meets the sea. It was disheartening because we had read positive reviews about it. It's unclear what has happened since the pandemic, but the beach is not being maintained. Although Kuta town has some great restaurants and facilities, the beach is a mess. Local fishermen dock their boats here, and there are vendors and children swimming, but it's not a clean environment for swimming. We didn't see any tourists or travelers in the water or on the beach.

This beach is one of the tourist attractions that you can visit when you go to Tunak Hill in Lombok. It takes approximately 2 hours to ride there from Mataram. When we went to the beach in September 2019, we noticed that the road and facilities were better compared to other beaches in Tunak Hill. The beach itself is clean and has yellowish white sand. You can enjoy your time there without worrying about overcrowding 😊. If you're interested in exploring further, you can also do some light hiking to reach the uphill area and get a view of the ocean from the top of the cliff. However, it's not highly recommended to swim near the beach due to the large waves, so please be cautious.

To be honest, the beach doesn't appear to be as pink as we were led to believe. A local resident informed us that it used to be much pinker, but even in the morning light, it didn't quite live up to our expectations. Having visited the pink beach in Komodo Island, we found that there was a lot more pink there than here. However, the view of the beach with the mountains in the background was breathtaking. Although the local guy offered to take us snorkeling by boat, my boyfriend and I weren't really interested in doing it that day.

The beach is truly a magnificent sight to behold. The crystal-clear waters glisten under the warm sun, while the soft sand massages your feet with each step you take. The salty breeze carries the sweet scent of the ocean, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore is both soothing and invigorating. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind, to forget about the stresses of everyday life and just enjoy the beauty of nature. Whether you're looking to swim, sunbathe, or simply stroll along the shoreline, this beach has something for everyone. So if you're in need of a little escape, come and experience the magic of this breathtaking beach for yourself.
