Primarily a transit point to catch the ferry to Sainte-Marie. The welcome wasn’t very friendly, the food was quite underwhelming, and the service is very minimal.

The ferry leaves here. You need to know French to book and in the fashion of hundred years ago, with one person to book, then more paper work, more stamps, another person check in. All in all about a 4 hour boarding process that should take 10min. The pier has gone so you need immigrant fleeing type boats to take you to the ferry. And of course you can’t book on the day- needs to be done in advance because otherwise it wouldn’t be French. Save your precious time and don’t bother with this island. I took the ferry back to the other port and it was even worse standards.
