This beach is undoubtedly a sight to behold, but don't let its beauty deceive you. The sand may be soft and the water crystal clear, but the crowds are overwhelming and the noise is deafening. The sun beats down on you relentlessly, leaving you drenched in sweat and feeling utterly drained. And don't even get me started on the litter and pollution that plagues this once-pristine paradise. It's a shame that such a stunning location has been ruined by the masses who flock here without any regard for the environment or the peace and quiet of others.

I had a delightful experience at Playa De Este beach near Havana, earning it a solid 4/5 rating. Being from Florida, I have had the privilege of enjoying some of the most beautiful beaches along the coast, so I'm quite picky when it comes to beaches. As a passionate beach lover and reviewer, I visited this beach in May, just before the peak season, and was pleased to find that it wasn't too crowded or dirty.
I hopped on the bus route and made my first stop at Santa Maria, but I would recommend another stop where there are hotels and more food options. The beach I was at was "sold out" of food and most drinks, except for lobster, which I wouldn't recommend ordering while sunbathing. However, I don't think any of the stops along the strip are significantly better than another, but I do believe that accommodations may be better at another spot.

Although it may seem appealing to some, the beach that is just a short public transit ride away from the bustling heart of Havana is not all it's cracked up to be. While it may appear to be a paradise on the surface, the reality is that the beach is overcrowded and noisy, with very little space to truly relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. In addition, the transit system itself can be unreliable and uncomfortable, making the journey to and from the beach a stressful and unpleasant experience. All in all, while it may be tempting to escape the city for a day at the beach, this particular destination is not worth the hassle and disappointment.

What a charming anecdote! Apparently, back in 1895, two revolutionary heroes, José Martí and Máximo Gómez, made an unexpected pit-stop at this beach. They had hopped off a German fruit steamer that had just left the Bahamas and were on their way to join a rebellion in Cuba. It's hard to imagine the excitement and anticipation they must have felt as they stepped onto this sandy shore, ready to fight for their cause. It's a shame we can't ask them for their thoughts on the beach itself, but I'm sure they were too preoccupied with their mission to notice the beauty around them. Still, it's fascinating to think that this unassuming spot played a small part in such a significant moment in history.

For over a decade, our family has been returning to this breathtaking beach destination. It's a haven for children with its shallow entrance and reliable safety measures. Whether you're gazing out from the water or lounging on the shore, the view is simply stunning. Just a word of caution, about 7 meters from the shore, watch your step in the grass to avoid the prickly sea urchin. Thankfully, the coral reefs protect the shore from waves, making it a perfect spot for swimming and exploring the diverse ocean life. It's quite a sight to see fish follow us around, and while some people feed them, we prefer to offer them a healthy snack. Our experience at this beach in Baracoa was less than ideal. While the beach itself was pleasant enough, we were unfortunately met with an unexpected danger. The beach is situated near the mouth of a river, and during rainstorms, the river water flow increases, causing a drop in sea water temperature. This drop in temperature attracts jellyfish, known as Agua viva or Agua mala, which are much more dangerous than those found in Italy. Regrettably, my girlfriend and several others we met at the nearby polyclinic were stung by these jellyfish, resulting in burns on their faces and bodies, as well as severe allergic reactions. We were forced to cut our vacation short as my girlfriend had to take cortisone and antibiotics to recover. Shockingly, there were no signs or warnings of this danger, even though the locals were aware of it. It's crucial to exercise caution when visiting this beach to avoid any potential harm.
