Amazing scenery, my third visit here. This time, I discovered the view from the top—after climbing 416 steps, you're rewarded with a truly magnificent view of Hong Beach and a vast expanse of Phang Nga Bay, including Lao Lading Island.
We took a longtail boat from Koh Yao Yai and arrived at Hong Island at 8:30 in the morning. We began with the peaceful Nature Trail, which connects to a well-constructed staircase leading up 416 steps to the summit (see photos).
After descending, we enjoyed a swim at the enchanting Hong Beach. Later, we boarded our pre-booked longtail boat to the lagoon on the island's backside, where we had another delightful swim.

This beach in Thailand is absolutely amazing! I adore it ♡♡ It's a pristine and immaculate beach with an abundance of sea creatures to discover. You'll need to take a speedboat approximately 60 kilometers from the mainland to get here. While many tourists opt for a day trip on a tour boat, my friends and I prefer to camp here and sleep in tents right on the beach, enjoying the breathtaking view of the sunset. The staff and tour guides from Sabina company are incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Don't miss out on the snorkeling tour, which takes you to various locations around Surin islands. Just be sure to check the schedule as the beach is closed annually during the rainy season.
Stayed in a bangalow for 4 ppl. Electricity came at 6pm-6am. Very beautiful beach and super clear water. Comparing to Mai Ngam bay, here is smaller but have layers of colors, light green to deep blue. Co-op restaurant opened 3 times a day. We paid for half day trip for private group at 2000Thb for 3 hours. (Green view tour, subcontracted with the National park office) Suggesting morning as the sea is usually more calm. FYI. Speedboat from Kuraburi roundtrip with Sabina tour is 1,500THB. transfer to/from Phuket is 500THB. And from Kuraburi pier to a hotel in Khaolak is 400THB. Taxis from Khaolak city center to Phuket airport pier are all around but I chose one we could book online , CK Transfer, 1,200 THB with Toyota Camry, with insurance, very responsive and polite driver.

Lovely beach. This beach was the easiest to access from our resort. It's peaceful and quiet. Good for sunsets and swimming. Lots of rocks and boulders for those who just want to jen to the waves and feel the water at their feet. Plenty of restaurants offering sunbeds. Sand is soft, fresh is clean, water is clear.

Mai Ngam beach on North Surin Island is truly an amazing place!
Strongly suggest that one avoids booking the 1Day trip to Surin island,
in order to avoid the crowds of day travelers from Khaolak & Phuket.
Instead, choose to spend a minimum of 2Nights on the island, staying in either the national parks bungalows, or the national parks tents.
We have stayed in the tents for three times now, (the 3rd time being this April'18). Of course the tents offers very basic accommodation, with shared communal toilet/bath facilities, and added to this is the poor service quality of the national parks staff...but the natural surroundings make it all worth the stay.
The view & setting of Mai Ngam is spectacular! You can swim right off the beach with crystal waters and witness some small fish & coral life. The best snorkeling is done through one of the longtail boat trips booked through the tour company or directly through the national parks service.
From Mai Ngam beach, you can take a jungle walk, the trail leads you south over the mountain to the Royal Navy SARS camp, and then further south to the second National parks center at Chong Khad Beach. Do keep in mind that you have to walk back and the trail offers no lights or help points. Thus the walk is best done during the morning, taking 2-3hrs (per way), especially for families with children.

入住 BABA Ecolodge 是一次惊人的体验。
每间房子都是独特的，我们有幸和我的未婚妻在“海蓝 1号”住了5天。小屋真的很漂亮。床很舒适，衣柜空间很大，户外的开放式浴室和你能想象的最佳海景阳台！
整个度假村基本上就在丛林中，你可以在每一步中欣赏自然的美丽。
餐厅在时尚的殖民建筑中，早餐确实异常出色。
沙滩很长，金色沙子，放眼望去几公里没有人影。
还有一个海湾，有海滩酒吧、沙滩躺椅、水上设备和波浪较小的平静海水。
你可以选择租一只皮划艇，沿着红树林运河游览，大约单程30分钟，这很不错，因为我们喜欢皮划艇，周围环境也真的很独特。

Amazing scenery, my third visit here. This time, I discovered the view from the top—after climbing 416 steps, you're rewarded with a truly magnificent view of Hong Beach and a vast expanse of Phang Nga Bay, including Lao Lading Island.
We took a longtail boat from Koh Yao Yai and arrived at Hong Island at 8:30 in the morning. We began with the peaceful Nature Trail, which connects to a well-constructed staircase leading up 416 steps to the summit (see photos).
After descending, we enjoyed a swim at the enchanting Hong Beach. Later, we boarded our pre-booked longtail boat to the lagoon on the island's backside, where we had another delightful swim.

This beach in Thailand is absolutely amazing! I adore it ♡♡ It's a pristine and immaculate beach with an abundance of sea creatures to discover. You'll need to take a speedboat approximately 60 kilometers from the mainland to get here. While many tourists opt for a day trip on a tour boat, my friends and I prefer to camp here and sleep in tents right on the beach, enjoying the breathtaking view of the sunset. The staff and tour guides from Sabina company are incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Don't miss out on the snorkeling tour, which takes you to various locations around Surin islands. Just be sure to check the schedule as the beach is closed annually during the rainy season.
Stayed in a bangalow for 4 ppl. Electricity came at 6pm-6am. Very beautiful beach and super clear water. Comparing to Mai Ngam bay, here is smaller but have layers of colors, light green to deep blue. Co-op restaurant opened 3 times a day. We paid for half day trip for private group at 2000Thb for 3 hours. (Green view tour, subcontracted with the National park office) Suggesting morning as the sea is usually more calm. FYI. Speedboat from Kuraburi roundtrip with Sabina tour is 1,500THB. transfer to/from Phuket is 500THB. And from Kuraburi pier to a hotel in Khaolak is 400THB. Taxis from Khaolak city center to Phuket airport pier are all around but I chose one we could book online , CK Transfer, 1,200 THB with Toyota Camry, with insurance, very responsive and polite driver.

Lovely beach. This beach was the easiest to access from our resort. It's peaceful and quiet. Good for sunsets and swimming. Lots of rocks and boulders for those who just want to jen to the waves and feel the water at their feet. Plenty of restaurants offering sunbeds. Sand is soft, fresh is clean, water is clear.

Mai Ngam beach on North Surin Island is truly an amazing place!
Strongly suggest that one avoids booking the 1Day trip to Surin island,
in order to avoid the crowds of day travelers from Khaolak & Phuket.
Instead, choose to spend a minimum of 2Nights on the island, staying in either the national parks bungalows, or the national parks tents.
We have stayed in the tents for three times now, (the 3rd time being this April'18). Of course the tents offers very basic accommodation, with shared communal toilet/bath facilities, and added to this is the poor service quality of the national parks staff...but the natural surroundings make it all worth the stay.
The view & setting of Mai Ngam is spectacular! You can swim right off the beach with crystal waters and witness some small fish & coral life. The best snorkeling is done through one of the longtail boat trips booked through the tour company or directly through the national parks service.
From Mai Ngam beach, you can take a jungle walk, the trail leads you south over the mountain to the Royal Navy SARS camp, and then further south to the second National parks center at Chong Khad Beach. Do keep in mind that you have to walk back and the trail offers no lights or help points. Thus the walk is best done during the morning, taking 2-3hrs (per way), especially for families with children.
